What is a CNA?

A CNA is a Certified Nursing Assistant that assists patients with daily
activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Although
daily duties can vary by employer, this normally includes dressing, bathing,
feeding, and taking vitals of the patients.

A GNA is a Geriatric Nursing Assistant that assists patients with daily
activities in a nursing home under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
(RN). Although daily duties can vary by employer, this normally includes
dressing, bathing, feeding, and taking vitals of the patients.

What is the difference between CNA and GNA?

A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) works in an assisted living facility
or for an agency. A Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) works for a nursing
home. The only difference is the type of employer you can work for. The
skills needed to be a CNA or GNA are the same. You can apply for your
CNA license, once you complete the program. You are eligible for a GNA
license, once you have applied for a CNA license and have passed an additional
state board exam.

How do often do I renew my license?

Your license and/or licenses will state the expiration date. You can check
your license on
www.mbon.org.

How do I renew my license?

Your license and/or licenses can be renewed online at
www.mbon.org. It costs $40.00 to renew your license and/or licenses. The cost covers
the CNA and GNA license renewal. If you only have your CNA, it will still
cost $40.00.

Is my license valid in other state?

No, our program meets the Maryland Board of Nursing regulations. Once you
completed our program, you applied for your license with the Maryland
Board of Nursing. This means your license is valid only in Maryland. Each
state has their own Board of Nursing.

Where is your school located?

We have several locations throughout Maryland. We offer CNA/GNA programs
in Anne Arundel, Prince George’s, and Baltimore Counties. To find

How much is your tuition?

The tuition is $1,800 which includes tuition, supplies, clinical fees,
lab fees, graduation, unlimited skills reviews that prepare you for the
GNA exam, and lifetime job assistance.

What’s not covered in tuition?

There are fees are not covered in the tuition of $1,800.

Some students may already have CPR. You may be able to get your drug screen
and PPD free through your health insurance. Check with your health insurance.

These fees are not given by It Works Learning Center. These fees are required
through the Maryland Board of Nursing to get your CNA and/or GNA license.

Do you have payment plans?

We offer 0% interest payment plan options. These options allow you to take
the class as you make payments. We offer weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly
payment plans. Go to

Why doesn’t your school offer financial aid?

It Works is not a Title IV school, therefore we do not offer federal financial
aid. We do not have a FAFSA Federal School Code and we do not qualify
for Pell Grants. Even if you previously qualified for financial aid with
another school, you can not use it to pay It Works’ tuition and fees.

Is a High School Diploma required?

We offer a CNA/GNA program every month that doesn’t require a HS
Diploma or GED. However, some of our grant CNA/GNA programs have different
requirements depending on the grant.

Why do you require a Drug, PPD, and CPR?

Drug, PPD, and CPR is required to go to clinicals. Clinicals is the hands-on
training portion of the CNA/GNA curriculum.

Do you have scholarships or grants?

We occasionally have CNA/GNA programs that are grant sponsored. This means
that the grant would pay your tuition if selected. Each grant has different

Why are the requirements different between the classes you pay for and
grant classes?

If you pay your tuition, then you do not need to meet grant requirements.
If you are seeking a grant to pay your tuition, then you must meet their
qualifications and be selected. Some grants require a clean criminal background.
Other grants must use their funds for residents of particular areas. There
are also grants that require a HS Diploma or GED. For information regarding
